Infections are common and for most people the risk of severe disease is low. Infections can be acquired at home or in the community and brought into the work place environment or acquired and spread within the work place.

Infections are caused by micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, otherwise known as germs. Germs are everywhere and most do not cause infection and can even be beneficial. However, some germs can cause infections when they get into the wrong place, which can result in symptoms such as fever and sickness.

Collinge and Co. & Collinge and Co. Training is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees & apprentices. This policy describes the safety measures and procedures we have in place to protect our employees and others not in our employment from the risks of common infectious disease.

In order to fulfil its responsibilities, the organisation will:

Bring this Policy Statement to the attention of all employees;

• Review when required or when there is a change such as local outbreak, Epidemic, Pandemic
• Hold regular H&S review meetings comprising of Charlie Collinge, Alison Gibson & Ruth Dickinson;
• Communicate and consult with our employees / partner salons on matters affecting their health and safety;
• Comply fully with any legal requirements and government guidance;
• Eliminate risks to health and safety, where possible;
• Encourage staff to identify and report hazards in relation to infection control so that we can all contribute towards improving safety;
• Ensure that procedures are in place at all locations for dealing with an infectious disease.

• Provide adequate resources to control the risks arising from our work activities
• Provide adequate training and ensure that all employees are competent to do their tasks safely;
